IceChat is an IRC ( Internet Relay Chat) program designed to run on Windows 9x/Me/2k/XP/2003 and Vista. It is used to connect to IRC Servers and chat in channels with other IRC Users.
You can connect IceChat to an unlimited number of servers, all in one session (No need to start multiple copies of IceChat). You can do basic mirc scripting with IceChat, as well as use the Visual Basic Scripting (VBS) Engine. It can create custom popup menus, with the Popup Editor, or adding them with scripts, using the IceChat Editor.
IceChat was first being developed in 2000, and has gone through many changes in its Interface, Design, and of course its many features.
IceChat is FreeWare, meaning anyone can use it, at no cost.
If you wish to have a Custom Install of IceChat, please contact us at IceChat Support. The Main IceChat Support channel is located on Quakenet (irc.quakenet.org) in the #icechat channel.
This web site was started November 11, 2003, and most recently updated in October 2007. The forums remain with the SMF system, and the Main Website has now been rewritten by Snerf.

IceChat 8 in Development
There has been some talk of IceChat 8 in the #icechat support channel. Snerf has started work on IceChat 8 , re-writing it in C# 2005, so it will be a complete re-write. The project will also be open source. But development has slowed down for the time being, and only the IRC Library has been developed so far. The main GUI for the program is still in the process of being made, so only a very simple, test client is functional at this time. There is no time frame set for IceChat 8, but it will be until 2008 before anything usable is available. IceChat 7 took 18 months to complete, so saying that IceChat 8 could take 18 months as well, would not surprise us.
